How it works

1 · Look

We watch the radar every two minutes.

The whole country, kept in memory, so any place you search is ready the moment you ask.

2 · Move

We measure where the rain is going.

The last few frames give a direction and a speed. Sliding the picture forward is the next hour and a half, and storms parked nearby count even when nothing is headed straight for you.

3 · Ask the models

NOAA's models fill in what radar can't.

HRRR for the shape of the rain, the National Weather Service for temperatures and the chance of rain, hour by hour.

4 · Decide

Jev weighs them.

A decision model reads all of it and answers one question at a time with a probability. It never writes the forecast. It judges it.

5 · Show

Ninety minutes as one ribbon.

Height is the chance. Color is how hard. One glance.

6 · Check

Then we grade ourselves.

Every forecast is scored against what really fell, and a change to the recipe ships only when it beats the one before.
